What ifs for the Red Warriors this season:

1. What if Galanza was utilized from the start of the season and giving him his needed exposure?

2. What if Dan Alberto was the main point guard and Roi played the 2 guard?

3. What if we had a better perimeter defense? The three-pointers of DLSU, FEU and AdU should have been avoided and prevented.

4. What if Charles Mammie had understand his role as the primary center of the team? Buong season si Mammie lagi lumalabas sa area of responsibility nya.

5. What if Ralf Olivares maintained his composure during that crucial NU game?

6. What if Adi Santos did not fumble that pass in that epic 2nd overtime loss against FEU?

7. What if Roi Sumang made that final free-throw against DLSU that could have given us the needed win?

8. What if Chito Loyzaga was impartial?

9. What if Ralf Olivares did not seat behind the bench during the controversial Ateneo game?

10. What if the UE Board Members pursued the protest vs Bo Perasol violation?

These are just some of the what ifs this season.

We have to wait another 10 months for next season.

Sana the players and the Coaching Staff will learn from the mistakes this season.

Masakit man tanggapin, we have not fully maximized the talent of the team, we have not taken those golden opportunities that could have brought us back into the final 4.

Another heartbreaking season for the UE Community. Another year in history. Another year longing for that elusive UAAP Championship.

With 6 Red Warriors graduating, we need to fill 6 slots for the team.

The average height of those graduating players is 6'2. So basically ang 2 guard/forward ang mababakante.

Sure shoo-ins for next season:

Moustafa Arafat - 6'6
Renz Palma - 6'0 - 6'2
RR De Leon - 6'4
Paolo Varilla - 6'4

2 pa kailangan natin.. Benjamin Dy? Medyo raw pa ito eh.

Sayang si Trollano. Team B natin yan last year.

Sayang din si Galanza. Kung ginamit lang sya ng mas maaga.

Imagine him with Olivares and Sumang on the floor.

Anyway no crying over spilled milk.

I am looking forward for a more dangerous Red Warriors next year.

With the addition of Renz Palma(a taller version of Sumang, as fast, as daredevil, and as great slasher at that), Moustaph Arafat, the much improved RR De Leon and that 6'4 Fil-am Paolo Varilla. These 4 can spell the difference for the team come Season 77. And good news we still have 2 more available slots. We can add another player in the 3 or 4 position.

Then the emergence of Galanza from the bench, the unleashing of Jumao-as true potential, and hopefully a better Olayon, a disciplined Mammie, and a better leader in Sumang.

Next year's gonna big for us.

Can't wait for Season 77!bounce

Make or Break yan next year imo , tingin ko last season na ni sumang next season mukang magppro na, tingin ko kahit ngayon palang pba ready na laro nya

Sayang si gallanza sana binigyan ng break agad haha , well next year mukang sya papalit sa scoring ni olivarez - excited ako sakanya next season as well as jumao-as , olayon and alberto > kelangan lang tlga ng playing time ng mga to

Chris Javier regressed this season imo , too many outside shots , may laro ung bata sa loob sana balikan nla un

Hope Renz Palma and company come good as advertised . Returning RR deleon would be a good addition

We need to recruit better players - best blue chip recruit in this batch would be arvin tolentino of SBC , heard EVERYONE is gunning for him . here is a list of the best players in uaap juniors this season [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

9 months to gooooooo haha

Mahihirapan tayo kunin yang so Tolentino.

Dapat idevelop nya yung dribbling skills nya at yung skills nya fronting the basket.

Season 77 hosts UE seeks UAAP reforms

By Camille B. Naredo, ABS-CBNnews.com
Posted at 09/19/2013 7:43 PM | Updated as of 09/19/2013 7:43 PM
MANILA – After a difficult campaign that saw them fail to make the Final Four in the UAAP Season 76 tournament, the management of the University of the East (UE) Red Warriors is hoping to see reforms in the collegiate league next year.

The Red Warriors entered the season as a contender after winning the FilOil tournament in the pre-season, but stumbled out of the gate. They also had to deal with suspensions to their key players, including big man Charles Mammie and guards Lord Casajeros and Ralf Olivares.

After UE ended their season with a 76-73 victory over the University of the Philippines (UP), Red Warriors team manager Jesus Tanchanco Jr. made an impassioned plea for reforms in the UAAP.

“I hope that the UAAP can do some more reforms, so that instead of developing hatred among the players, we have to show love,” he said. “The UAAP is not there for us to be enemies.”

“The UAAP is there for us to be closer together, to play together, and sportsmanship should always be the main objective,” he stressed.

As next year’s hosts, UE is targeting a “bigger, more successful UAAP,” where “love should be the one that will prevail, and not hate,” says Tanchonco.

“Kailangan magkaroon tayo ng pagkakaisa, pagmamahalan. ‘Yan ang dapat,” he said. “Greatness will continue, and we will continue greatness in the coming years.”

When asked if UE, as next season’s hosts, plans to initiate the reforms in the league, Tanchanco answered: “Well, this will be up to the officials of the UAAP. We are just one, and there are eight members.”

Meanwhile, Red Warriors assistant coach Bai Cristobal is hoping for a more consistent implementation of UAAP rules next year, and believes UE can play a role in making this possible.

“If there is really a guideline of the rules, I hope the rules will not bend for whoever, and a rule will always be a rule,” Cristobal said. “Next year, UE will be the host, maybe we can give some input on guidelines, lalo na sa pag-suspend ng players.”

Cristobal also wants clarification on the extent of the authority of the UAAP Commissioner.

“Whenever there is a rule, the rules should always prevail,” Cristobal said. “We will just go to the rules. We should be on one page, according to the rules.”

Tanchonco said the upcoming meeting among the presidents of the UAAP member schools will go a long way in helping the growth of the league.

“I understand there will be a meeting of the presidents of the different universities,” he said. “That’s a good sign that they would like to try to strengthen and make the UAAP a bigger league next year.”

Lufet pala ng ginawa ng UST Yellow Jackets nung halftime haha! from pex -

"after the traditional cheers, 4 members lined up on the court, holding the school colors of NU DLSU FEU and ADMU, from left to right, respectively, representing the final 4.

then the tiger mascot came. the 5th YJ member, holding the UST colors, replaced the 4th member, tore the blue and white paper, crumpled it, and threw it on the floor."

Road clear for Chua return as Zamar admits he declined offer to coach Ginebra

Road clear for Chua return as Zamar admits he declined offer to coach Ginebra
“Yes, (Ginebra job) was offered to me on a silver platter, pero I have to protect my integrity and be honest with myself,” says Boycie Zamar said. “Ayaw ko namang talikuran yung kontrata ko sa UE. Saka let’s put it this way - I still have to learn the ropes." Jerome Ascano

BOYCIE Zamar confirmed on Wednesday that he has turned down an offer to coach Barangay Ginebra, clearing the way for the return of Alfrancis Chua or the retention of Ato Agustin despite a dismal first season as coach of the PBA's most popular ballclub.

Zamar, head coach of University of the East and an assistant to Agustin at Ginebra, told Spin.ph he has talked to San Miguel Corp. big boss Ramon S. Ang, Ginebra governor Robert Non, and team manager Chua three weeks ago informing them of his decision not to accept the offer.

Reportedly the personal choice of Ang to coach Ginebra, Zamar said he has decided to honor his contract with UE for next season but was also honest enough to admit that he feels he is not ready for such a high-profile coaching job.

“Yes, it was offered to me on a silver platter, pero I have to protect my integrity and be honest with myself,” Zamar said. “Ayaw ko namang talikuran yung kontrata ko sa UE. Saka let’s put it this way - I still have to learn the ropes."

As early as July when Chua resigned over differences with former SMC sports director Noli Eala, Spin.ph has already reported that officials have already informed the team that Zamar had been picked to coach Ginebra next season while Agustin took over in an interim basis.

[For full story, see Zamar next in line for Ginebra job]

However, Zamar said he has decided to complete his "unfinished business" with the Warriors, who fell short of reaching the Final Four this season.

“Hindi naman sa hindi ko kinuha pero sinabi ko lang kila boss RSA (Ang), Boss Robert (Non) and Coach Al (Chua) na may obligasyon pa ako sa UE,” said Zamar. “May responsibilidad pa ako sa UE at gusto ko pang matuto.”

Zamar said Ang gave him a pat on the back after the talk.

“Natuwa siya kasi honest daw ko. Kung iba daw yun, susunggaban agad yung trabaho,” said the 47-year old Illonggo, who will now be reuinited with his son, Paul, at the UE-Cebuana Lhuillier team in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup starting on October 24.
“Ang sa akin naman, hindi ako pwedeng tumanggap ng tumanggap ng trabaho … kung may obligasyon pa ako sa isa,” he said with a smile.

Asked if he is not afraid to pass up on a golden opportunity to coach the most popular team in the country, Zamar gave an honest response.

“Sa akin, kung darating ulit 'yun, darating 'yun. Focus na lang muna ako sa unfinished business ko sa UE and hopefully make myself better,” he added.

Zamar's decision now clears the way for the return of Chua, who was convinced to move up to the team manager's position after he resigned as coach at the end of the Philippine Cup.

There has been a strong clamor among diehard fans for Chua's return, more so after the Gin Kings tumbled out at the quarterfinal stage of the Governors Cup in Agustin's first conference as coach.

However, it was Agustin who has been running the team since Ginebra returned to practice early this week.

“Ato has been running the team pa since nung nagbalik ensayo sila,” said Non. “Wala namang changes.”
